Exhaust Question

Okay what type of exhaust are you guys running on your 4.0L TJ/ZJ/XJ, etc.

I have a Borla header, Carsounds hiflow cat and Flowmaster 70 series muffler. Since I put the cat and flowmaster on, I have not been pleased with the sound of the exhuast.....it kinda sounds like a ricer, but deeper.

Well my cat cracked last winter, and I had it welded back up. I just cracked again, so I'm taking it in to get a straight pipe added and the cat deleted.

Here is the question, my buddy who I work with and used to wheel with, keeps telling me Flowmasters suck, and I should put a V Force muffler on. I have never heard of them, are they decent? He tells me they flow better than a Flowmaster, but I don't like the sound of them on his K5 Blazer. They sound crackly like a glass pack.

Should I keep the Flowmaster or get the V-force? Any advice to what you guys run?

I cant comment on the muffler... but keep in mind if you take out the cat depending on the year TJ you have you may get a check engine light. Some of the 4.0L jeeps had an O2 sensor after the cat.

flowmaster 70 is for a mini-van

get a 40 series delta flow (NOT a normal 40 series).

It will sound deeper and throatier, if that is a word.... I had them on my 4.0L explorer and everyone thought I had a 5.0L. Even set off a car alarm or 2 if I punched it in a parking lot.

Jake, I have a 95 ZJ, the O2 is in the header.

Bones when I bought my 70 series the guy told me to get it, because it was quieter than 40 series. It's alot longer than other Flowmasters probably 8-10"

JeepPoor yes.....I need to wheel again, just is killing my liver

yes, the 70s is no where near as loud as a 40 delta-flow. Hence the ricer tone
